Wesley Capital Management

Launched in January 2001, Wesley Capital Management is a long/short hedge fund focused on real estate related securities. Through the end of 2013 the fund has returned over 183% net of fees to investors, significantly outperforming the S&P 500 (41%) and the HFRI (118%).

Wesley Capital Management has over $210 million in assets under management allocated across 20-30 long positions and 2-8 short positions. The top 10 long positions constitute 60-80% of total capital.

    Arthur Wrubel, Managing Partner & Portfolio Manager Mr. Wrubel began his career in 1987 at JMB Realty Corporation, one of the largest real estate investors in the United States, where he was an associate in the acquisitions group. At JMB, Mr. Wrubel worked on projects ranging from many of the largest property transactions of the 1980s to the purchase of small single assets. In 1993, Mr. Wrubel joined Dickstein & Co., a leading hedge fund in the event driven arena, as a partner. His focus was on real estate and asset backed securities. He was involved in many high profile real estate corporate restructurings in the 1990s, including Olympia & York, Cadillac Fairview, Rockefeller Center Properties, Bramalea, and Trizec. While at Dickstein, his fund outperformed its peer benchmarks. In addition, while at Dickstein, Mr. Wrubel successfully acquired and disposed of several properties for his own account. In 2001, Mr. Wrubel formed Wesley Capital, LP, a long/short fund focused on real estate securities. Mr. Wrubel holds a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

    Ron Russo, Portfolio Manager and Head Trader Prior to joining Wesley Capital as Head Trader in 2009, Ron was with Cantor Fitzgerald, where he was responsible for trading a global macro portfolio handling equities and index futures. Previously, Ron was a Junior Portfolio Manager at Troubh Partners and trader at SAC Capital Advisors, where he covered a broad sector base including industrials, basic materials, retail, autos and consumer products. Ron holds a B.A. in Economics with a concentration in Financial Markets from Colby College.

    Beth Steinberg, Managing Director Prior to joining Wesley Capital in 2013, Beth was the Chief Operating Officer for MTS Health Investors, a middle market healthcare private equity firm. Prior to joining MTS, Beth worked as an independent financial and business development consultant for various early stage companies. She helped young entrepreneurs to develop their business strategies and seek funding. Previously, Beth spent nearly five years as an investment banker at Lehman Brothers and Financo where she focused on client coverage and deal execution. Beth graduated summa cum laude from Barnard College of Columbia University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Mathematics.
